Critical Approaches to Place

“Critical Approaches to Place: Teaching Narrative Mapping in Southern New Mexico” is a three-year initiative informed by humanities approaches to place, rhetoric, and the environment, supported by a $149,890 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. My colleague and co-project director Dr. Kerry Banazek and I lead this project, which has featured a  faculty development workshop; design and implementation of a new interdisciplinary class examining sense of place, media, mapping, and representation in Spring 2022; and a public lecture series. The project began in 2021 and is ongoing through 2024. Stay tuned for more updates and a link to the project website.
